Children in Westminster have now received their offers for secondary school places with 95% of pupils offered a place at one of their preferred secondary schools, up from last year.

This lies above the London wide average of 94% after data was published on National Secondary Offer Day 2024 by the Pan London Admissions Board.

There was also a small increase from last year of first preferences offered as 71% of children received their first-choice secondary school. Over 90% of children received a place at one of their top three schools.

On hearing the results, Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for Communities, Children and Public Protection, Cllr Aicha Less said:

I’m so pleased that the majority of children received an offer for one of their preferred schools, which is due to the hard work of school staff, parents and the children themselves.”

“We are fortunate that Westminster is home to excellent schools with all secondary schools in the borough being rated by Ofsted as Outstanding or Good so I want to wish all our young people good luck for September and enjoy the rest of the school year.”

“For those who have yet to receive a place, movement on waiting lists and parents and carers declining offers in favour of independent schools will enable further offers to be made for schools of preference between the end of March and start of September.”

More information on starting secondary school in September can be found on the council’s dedicated webpage.
