Travel advice
If you are travelling to Westminster on New Year’s Day, please check before you travel. The public transport network may be affected by industrial action or engineering works, as well as changes to services due to the festive period.
You can use TfL's journey planner to help you.
TfL is not able to offer free travel on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day.
Ticketholders for the grandstands and VIP areas may receive special travel instructions for their specific area.
Road closures
There will be significant road closures in place for the event in Mayfair and across the St James’s area from 2:30am on the morning of 1 January 2025 to facilitate the necessary build. Some closures will continue from the New Years Eve fireworks event the previous day, with all roads expected to be fully re-opened by 7:30pm.
Access for residents and businesses
If your home, business, or place of work is within the St James’s area, you will be facilitated access out of the area when safe to do so via St James’s Street and Albermarle Street. Access back into St James’s will not be facilitated until event closures have been fully lifted. Please note, there is unlikely to be any access between 11am and 3pm whilst the event is taking place.
Resident parking
Extensive parking suspensions will be in place across Westminster. Please check parking suspension signs on the street carefully. Not all resident bays are suspended, if you park in an available parking bay within the road closure area you will not be able to drive out until the road closures are lifted.
Parking on single yellow lines within the road closure on Monday 1 January will result in your vehicle being moved.
Information for businesses
Access to your business may be affected by road closures on the day, please check the map below carefully. If you have any concerns or will have planned for access during the closure times, please contact the organisers as soon as possible.
Deliveries will not be possible when roads are closed. Commercial waste should not be left on the public highway once traffic and pedestrian restrictions are implemented. Please ensure you make alternative arrangements for any deliveries or waste collections, accounting for any restrictions in place for the New Year's Eve fireworks event.
Parks
Berkeley Square Gardens will not be available for public use on the morning of the event. Limited public access will be facilitated into the gardens by security when safe to do so once the parade has fully moved off Berkeley Street.
All other Westminster Parks will be open as normal under Winter timings from 8am to 4:30pm.
