VAWG Housing First

About the service

Standing Together developed the Westminster VAWG Housing First Project, a Housing First service specifically designed for women who have experienced any form of violence against women and girls. Funded by the MHCLG and commissioned by Westminster City Council, the project has been operational since August 2019 and currently supports 30 women.

The Westminster VAWG Housing First project is a partnership between:

• Solace Women’s Aid, which provides support for women
• Standing Together, which coordinates the housing element of the partnership and is responsible for evaluation.

Housing is provided by:

• Peabody
• Southern Housing Group
• L&Q
• Women’s Pioneer Housing
• Octavia Housing

Service users can submit preferences for location/floor level according to their needs. Tenancies are assured shorthold tenancies, usually offered for a probationary period of one year, and then can be transferred to long-term or permanent tenancies.
