Westmead

About the project

The Westmead scheme will deliver 100% affordable homes in the Westbourne ward. The development will now provide a mix of social and intermediate rent homes. We have submitted a Section 73 planning application to convert the 41 market sale homes to this mix, ensuring the scheme becomes entirely affordable.

The scheme will provide:

  • 65 new affordable homes
  • Private amenity space for each new home, either a balcony or private garden
  • Improved green space for the wider community
  • 121 new cycle spaces

This project reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering genuinely affordable homes.

Project status

In March 2021 we were granted planning permission to deliver 65 new homes on the site of the former Westmead Care Home. We have now submitted a Section 73 planning application to the Local Planning Authority to change the type of homes intended to be built. The original design of the scheme will remain the same.

Main construction work begun on Friday 8 March 2024 and the scheme is scheduled for completion in Autumn 2025.

Construction Management Plan

Before our contractor starts work on the site, we implement our Code of Construction Practice to control the impact from construction activities. As part of this process, we have submitted a Construction Management Plan which sets out how we plan to control and minimise impacts on residents, businesses and other stakeholders. This includes careful management of working hours, noise, traffic access and waste management.

The site operating hours are between 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and between 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, when needed. No works will be carried out on Sundays or bank holidays.
