Overnight Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Checks
How we are tackling ASB in our housing estates
Here at Westminster City Council, we have teamed up with 'The Way Forward Services' to carry out overnight anti-social behaviour checks around the city. The service will run every day from 6pm to 4am and there will be two uniformed patrol officers (SIA Licensed) in an electric patrol vehicle. They will be equipped with mobile devices enabling constant communication and to log any issues and their whereabouts during shifts. The officers will patrol designated blocks and estates within Westminster and will be dealing with emergencies, anti-social behaviour and rough sleepers.
The service kicked off with a soft launch on the 28 November 2022 enabling the new team to get to know some of our estates. As part of the launch four estates were identified to benefit from the service: Lisson Green, Hallfield Estate, Lydford Estate and, Lillington and Longmore with flexibility to move the service to other areas throughout the year.
It is important to note that the service is not intended to be a policing enforcement role when dealing with anti-social behaviour, the main role is to observe, deter and gather intelligence, communicate where it is safe to do so and inform the councils teams and local law enforcement of any conflict, to enable them to formulate a plan to alleviate any issues.
The service currently provides digital daily intelligence reports which will be shared with the relevant teams to take any necessary action.
The service cannot be contacted by members of the public. The Housing and ASB teams will ensure that their resource is focused on the areas and hotspots that need attention and where reports have been received.
