The Westminster Anchor Alliance brings together a network of leading organisations to address some of the most pressing challenges to our communities.
What is an Anchor Alliance?
Our Alliance is a voluntary partnership of organisations, including major local employers and organisations that spend significant amounts on buying goods and services. We want to enhance benefits for the community and work together to help improve access to jobs, health and the environment.
Our learning from areas like Leeds, Islington, and Westminster itself is that anchor networks can drive real impact through collaborative initiatives, localised employment strategies, and sustainable environmental practices.

Journey to collaboration
The journey of the Westminster Anchor Alliance began with the Fairer Westminster plan, which highlighted the opportunity to strengthen our partnerships with major local employers and organisations in the city.
Following discussions with local partners in early 2023, the first meeting of the Westminster Anchor Alliance took place in June, followed by a meeting in November. At the November meeting, partners agreed on the network's primary focus: enhancing local hiring, skills, and employability.
This decision paves the way for a comprehensive work plan, which will be developed in the spring with input from all partners and the local community.
