100 Weddings, 1 Unforgettable Day: Love is in the air at Old Marylebone Town Hall
On 1st October 2024, Old Marylebone Town Hall marked its 100th anniversary by hosting 100 ceremonies for 100 couples celebrating their love through weddings, civil partnerships, and vow renewals.
The 100 ceremonies took place over 14 hours, spread across the Town Hall’s seven rooms - Mayfair, Pimlico, Paddington, Westminster, Marylebone, Soho and Knightsbridge – all paying tribute to Westminster’s iconic areas.
For the past century, Old Marylebone Town Hall has witnessed over 125,000 couples say “I do” since opening its doors in 1924. Known as the UK’s go-to-venue for celebrity weddings, it has hosted nupitals of some of Britain’s best-known stars, including legendary Beatles Ringo Starr and Sir Paul McCartney, as well as Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher.

Typical of British weather, rain poured throughout the day, but that didn’t dampen the spirits at Old Marylebone Town Hall.
The iconic town hall’s steps were filled with cheers from family and friends, as confetti rained down on the happy couples making their way out. As the saying goes, a rainy wedding day brings the best of luck!
Councillor Ryan Jude, Cabinet Member for Climate, Ecology and Culture says:
The 100th anniversary of Old Marylebone Town Hall was a remarkable celebration of love and community, showcasing the diverse range of couples and unique stories.
The success of the 100 weddings is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this extraordinary day. I look forward to seeing many more couples celebrate their love at this historic venue in the years to come.”

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the ushers, registrars and staff who worked tirelessly to make this day possible. From ensuring the iconic steps were picture perfect after each ceremony, to guiding couples to the right rooms, their dedication was essential. None of this could have been achieved without the impeccable organisation of the registration service team, who made it all seem effortless.
A big thank you to the media for capturing and sharing the joy, bringing warmth and brightness on an otherwise rainy day.
Westminster City Council wishes all the couples a lifetime of happiness!
