Digitise your old photos for free with Memory Lab at Church Street Library
The Memory Lab pilot
The Memory Lab pilot, which allowed residents to digitize their old photos for free, has concluded and is currently unavailable. The archives service is actively exploring options for reorganizing the service in the near future.
Named Memory Lab and based at Church Street Library, the project targets the city’s older residents, but everyone was welcome.
This is where the users could scan old physical photographs or even newspaper clippings, with assistance of a trained volunteer.
The images were saved onto a memory stick and given to the resident to take home.
The project ran until 16 January 2024, where there were two drop-in sessions per week.

Users of the Memory Lab equipment were also asked whether their memories could be added to our Westminster Archives to help us improve the depth and diversity of our archives - with more social representation across council collections.
