Exam results joy for pupils who sat their GCSEs in City of Westminster
Hundreds of local pupils, parents and teachers celebrated an outstanding set of GCSE results across the borough on Thursday (22nd August). Many pupils will now go on to study for their A-Levels in September.
Westminster's GCSE results for 9-5 in all subjects are 67%, significantly above the national average of 52%.
Westminster's GCSE performance in 2024 are consistent with 2023 results for both grades 9-5 in English and Maths, and grades 9-4 in English and Maths. The latest exam results success comes as all schools in City of Westminster are currently rated 'Good' or 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.
Some notable achievements within Westminster
- At St Marylebone CE School, 47% of grades achieved were grades 7-9
- In Paddington Academy, Year 11 achieved the best ever GCSE results in the school's history. 87% gained grade 4+ in English and Maths and 73% gained 5+
- At the Grey Coat Hospital, 73% of students took 10 or more GCSEs in 2024, compared to 12.2% of students in England. Among that group, 75 students gained at least one grade 9. Camille Ferrand took 14 GCSEs and gained all grades 9.
- At Westminster Academy, the school's artists excelled, with 36% of GCSE Art students achieving a grade 7 or above
Ochir, Head boy at Marylebone Boys School said:
I am proud of my results and I am looking forward to my next steps. I would like to study either medicine or business at university. MBS has been a great support with providing interventions when needed and offering a fantastic range of resources to help us learn."

A huge well done to pupils in Westminster who have taken a big step by completing their GCSEs. I would also like to congratulate all of our school leaders, teachers and support staff for their hard work and dedication in providing an amazing education for our young people. I hope students will celebrate their amazing achievements today, and I wish them best in their next steps whether that's further education, an apprenticeship or a job."
