Construction firm H.A. Marks Construction has won the contract to build Ebury Edge – an exciting new temporary space planned by Westminster City Council at the Ebury Bridge Estate in Pimlico.
H.A. Marks Construction will deliver the new cutting-edge space, while the renewal of the Ebury Bridge Estate progresses.
Ebury Edge will have a community café, a mix of shops, affordable workspaces, event spaces and a garden courtyard, and will be open for around five years while work on the new estate takes place.
This temporary space was agreed in reaction to extensive public consultation, where residents said they wanted a space for gardening, a café and a flexible family-friendly space.
Cllr Melvyn Caplan, Cabinet Member for Finance, Property and Regeneration and Deputy Leader for Westminster City Council said:
“The estate renewal of Ebury Bridge is one of our top priorities in delivering 1,850 new affordable homes as part of our City For All plan, and providing this vibrant pop-up is vital to this regeneration.
“The local community asked for a flexible, creative, community-focused space and that’s what we’re delivering – something that local entrepreneurs and residents alike can enjoy.
“We look forward to working with H.A. Marks Construction to create something that really benefits the local community for the next few years.”
Ebury Edge was given the green light by planners in September 2019, following the council’s decision to fully renew Ebury Bridge Estate. This new estate will create around 750 high-quality, energy efficient homes, including at least 342 affordable homes, which is the largest development of new council and affordable homes in the area in a generation.
Westminster is encouraging local businesses and entrepreneurs to register interest in the new spaces available by visiting: www.eburyedge.com
