New free outdoor gym for our residents

A brand-new outdoor gym, featuring six different pieces of fitness equipment, opened last week on the Grosvenor Estate. The gym has replaced an unused playground and will provide residents with free opportunities to stay active locally.

On Saturday 27 July, we held a community event on the estate to officially open the gym. The gym was opened by Councillor Liza Begum, Cabinet member for Housing Services, and local Councillor Gillian Arrindell, along with committee members from the local Residents Association. Residents of all ages tried out the new facilities and were supported by two sports coaches from Everyone Active, who demonstrated how to use the different pieces of equipment.

The gym’s location and equipment were planned and agreed with local residents last year. The six pieces of equipment provide the opportunity for residents to exercise lots of different muscles. Some of them are harder work for beginners than others!

The gym will be opened each morning seven days a week, and locked each evening at around 8pm in the summer and 5pm in the winter.
