The passing of a true tenants’ champion

It is with great sadness that we advise of the passing of long serving resident representative, Richard Tarling.

Richard was a true tenants’ champion. In Westminster, he was chairperson of the former tenant management organisation, Charfield Court Cooperative, and on the local residents’ and housing panel. He was also a board member of the National Federation of Tenant Management Organisations (NFTMO) and served on numerous parliamentary consultative groups as well as the London Tenants Federation.

Westminster resident, Richard Beville said that:

“Richard Tarling represented Little Venice on the Westminster Housing & Residents’ Panels for a number of years. He was able to use his professional skills in the explanation of legislative changes and the drafting of policy papers. Through that work, he was able to support a succession of Chairs & Vice Chairs”.

The local housing services team added that:

“Richard’s knowledge of housing policy made him a great representative of residents and he will be missed by us all”.

Chairman of NFTMO, Nick Reynolds said:

“Richard was a long standing member of the NFTMO Exec and would always ensure he would attend meetings regardless of at times his obvious frailty. He was a true supporter of tenants and their rights and a very big believer of tenant management, recognising its value”.

Previous Chair of the Housing Panel, John Brett:

“Richard's voice will be sorely missed. As a good friend to many of us, he is and will be missed always”

We thank Richard for his hard work for tenants over the years, and send condolences to Richard’s family and friends.
