Westminster City Council and The Crown Estate announce call for innovative design teams to shape the Future of Regent Street, Haymarket, and Piccadilly Circus Public Realm
Westminster City Council, in partnership with The Crown Estate, is inviting ambitious, innovative and solutions-focused urban designers to submit proposals for a truly transformational experience for Regent Street, Piccadilly Circus and Haymarket’s public realm. A Prior Information Notice (PIN) inviting urban designers and consortium teams to register their interest for this unique opportunity.
The partners’ ambitions are to revitalise these renowned areas into vibrant, inclusive, resilient and sustainable places that reflect the dynamism of one of London's leading cultural and commercial districts. The selected design team will have the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on one of the world's most celebrated urban landscapes.
Key requirements for potential design teams include proven expertise in developing and delivering world-class public realm designs in high-profile urban environments with nature-based solutions; a track record of urban innovation and creativity, with an emphasis on creating distinctive and timeless spaces; a commitment to inclusive design; and ensuring that the new public realm is adaptable to future needs.
The call for proposals will run as an open tender process, with the invitations to tender expected to be published on 18 June 2024.
