Starting primary school from September 2025

Information on how to apply for a primary school place for reception class 2025.

Reception Class 2025

All applicants will receive the outcome of their application via email. If you have been offered a school, you must accept or decline your offer within 2 weeks.

Waiting lists and appeals

If your child was not offered their first preference school, they will be retained on the waiting list for any schools listed higher than the one they were offered.

Waiting list positions for any community or academy school within Westminster will be available from 14 May from the Admissions Team.

For religious schools, or schools located outside of Westminster, you are advised to contact the school directly, or the borough in which they are located, for further advice about the waiting list process.

There is a right to an independent appeal for any school that has been unable to offer a place. Please be aware, for schools that admit in classes of 30 or 60, ‘infant class size’ legislation will apply meaning there are only very limited circumstances where an appeal would be allowed.

Late applications

If your child was born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021, the eAdmissions website is open until August for late online applications and is the recommended way to apply.
