Connect Westminster Residents
We are committed to the creation of full-fibre availability across the whole city. Full fibre networks offer gigabit-capable broadband which provides residents, businesses, and visitors with the fastest and most reliable internet speeds available.
To help reach this objective, we have launched the Connect Westminster Residents voucher scheme, which will provide vouchers of up to £500 per resident connected to cover the costs of connection to new gigabit-capable, full fibre networks.
The scheme is similar to the National Gigabit Voucher Scheme which is currently focussed on rural areas of the UK. However, we are aware that there are also significant connectivity issues in our city too. We are determined to continue to work to bridge the digital divide and get our residents connected to the best broadband possible.
The vouchers will be issued on a first come, first served basis so we encourage providers to see eligible areas and submit proposals as soon as possible.
Eligibility
For broadband service providers to be eligible for the scheme they must:
- operate in Westminster
- comply with terms and conditions
- submit a fully costed proposal for the area they wish to serve
- submit evidence of each resident connected
For residents to be eligible to receive a voucher they must:
- live in a property that is located within one of the specified Intervention Areas (IAs)
- be willing to take up a connection with one of the broadband suppliers who have a network in their area
- be able to authorise the works to take place to connect their property, or have the express permission of the person(s) with such authority for the works to take place
Residents can check if their property is located within an Intervention Area.
