What is Westminster Talking Therapies?

- Time: 1pm to 2pm
Navigating NHS Mental Health services can feel overwhelming. It can be difficult to know what is available and how treatment options can help. This workshop will give you an understanding of Westminster Talking Therapies, and explore how CBT can be effective for managing symptoms of low mood, stress and anxiety.
Taking charge of stress and worry
- Date: Friday 7 February
- Time: 1pm to 2pm
Worrying often means thinking about potential problems in a way that leaves you feeling anxious or apprehensive. It can feel uncontrollable and overwhelming. This practical workshop will share strategies to help you overcome stress and worry, including tips on differentiating between helpful and unhelpful worries and how to address them effectively.
An introduction to mindfulness
- Date: Friday 7 March
- Time: 1pm to 2pm
Evidence has shown that mindfulness can help with symptoms of as anxiety and depression. Adapted from Buddhist mindfulness meditation, it is a practice that involves observing what is happening in the here and now. This interactive workshop will explain the benefits of mindfulness and how developing this skill can improve your overall wellbeing.
Boost motivation and tackle procrastination
- Date: Friday 4 April
- Time: 1pm to 2pm
Motivation is the urge to engage in goal-directed behaviour. Sometimes, we can lack motivation to complete difficult tasks. When our mood is low, we can even find completing necessary tasks challenging; this can lead to unhelpful behaviour such as procrastination or avoidance. This workshop will explore mood and motivation, practical strategies (5-minute rule, activity scheduling, Pomodoro technique) to boost motivation and reduce procrastination.
