Case studies

Explore our video series showcasing social value initiatives from the Social Value Year End Impact Report 2023/24.

These case studies highlight how our partners and we are driving positive change for local residents through support for community organisations and employment services.

Social Value Spotlight #1: All Stars Boxing Gym – A Community Space for Young People to Thrive

We visited All Stars Boxing Gym, a 50-year-old community institution in Westminster, to see how social value contributions from council contractors helped keep this vital youth service running through financial support and direct investment towards facility upgrades. Muf Akay, the gym's manager, shares how boxing teaches discipline and respect, providing an alternative to gang involvement for local youth.

Social Value Spotlight #2: A New Path in Construction through Westminster Employment Service

Meet Amir Abdulrahman, a Westminster resident whose life was transformed by the council's employability programme. We follow Amir's journey from working as a mechanic and delivery driver to finding a promising career in construction.

Social Value Spotlight #3: Mary Paterson Nursery – Supporting Working Parents with Early Starts

We explore how Mary Paterson Nursery's breakfast club, supported by social value initiatives, is making a difference in the lives of working parents in Westminster. The nursery staff explain how their early start times and holistic approach help parents access employment while providing children with nurturing care, independence skills, and a strong start to their day.
