Advice for social renters
As a tenant of a Registered Social Landlord you have rights to a warm and healthy home and there are protections and support to help you with this.
Contact your housing provider
Contact your housing association to report any concerns about conditions in your property or for more information on their plans to improve the energy-efficiency of your home.
Healthy homes check
We work with landlords and tenants to ensure rental properties meet Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) and will take enforcement action against the minority of landlords that do not meet their obligations.
If your home has problems with heating, poor insulation or energy efficiency, please report your housing issue and an officer will be in touch to discuss your issue.
Home Improvement Agency and Handyperson Service
- The Westminster Home Improvement Agency supports vulnerable residents to maintain independence and live comfortable and safely in their own homes. This includes providing advice, assistance and grants for repair of hot water or heating systems.
- The free Handyperson service supports residents over 60 years of age or receiving disability allowance with minor works such as replacing light bulbs and other small DIY jobs.
