Information for residents
Our free handyperson service is to designed to help you with minor home maintenance tasks. This includes things like replacing light bulbs, fixing loose screws, and other small DIY jobs.
The service is open to residents who meet one of the following criteria:
- aged over 60
- are in receipt of disability benefit
Please be prepared to provide proof of your age or disability benefit receipt so that we can verify your eligibility.
This service does not include cover gardening, plumbing, decorating, electrical works or emergency repairs.
Tasks covered by the handyperson service
- Install smoke or carbon monoxide alarm
- Replace a toilet roll holder
- Install a toilet seat
- Replace a shower curtain or rail
- Install curtains
- Secure loose carpet
- Replace lightbulbs
- Draught-proof windows
- Install shelves
- Install small mirror or cabinet
- Assemble a grab rail
- Replace a washer in a tap
- Other minor repairs

How to book an appointment
Book online
You can now book an appointment at a time and date convenient to you.
Appointments are taken in customer preferred time slots each working day from Monday to Friday.
- Mornings between 10am and midday
- Afternoons between 1pm and 4pm
If our officer is delayed at a previous job they will call you to let you know when they expect to arrive or give you the opportunity to re-book the appointment.
