Neutral and collaborative stewardship
The Retrofit Taskforce aims to contribute knowledge and expertise in a neutral and collaborative manner, either by establishing a new initiative with other local authorities or contributing to existing organisations’ ventures to help avoid silo working. Retrofitting is not for one organisation or local authority to solve.
Objectives
It is recognised that under collaborative stewardship the Retrofit Taskforce will:
- implement radical solutions to tackle the challenge of retrofit.
- work closely with other local authorities and organisations to match the scale of the challenge with the scale of response.
- build upon existing work to deepen research and to fill gaps.
- capitalise on current climate change movements knowledge sharing culture and avoid proprietary stereotypes around research and development.
Identify other pan-London and national retrofit bodies such as:
- contributing key findings into centralised groups such as Retrofit London’s initiative, under London Councils and the UKGBC Retrofit Forum.
- working with regional and national groups, including the National Retrofit Hub.
- identifying which opportunities to collaborate and align with existing groups are right for further investigation, and there is potentially scope, to work with international municipalities with large heritage building stock.
- publish any key findings from live workstreams to this collaborative stewardship initiative, whilst linking back to our webpages for local stakeholders and residents to benefit from findings.
Work to date
The Retrofit Taskforce is:
- working with multiple working groups at the National Retrofit Hub.
- involved in various forums within London including UKGBC Retrofit forum and Retrofit London initiative, under London Councils.
- actively contributing to the Innovate UK Fast Followers Programme.
