The Homes for Ukraine (HFU) Scheme was launched in March 2022, and it offers a pathway for Ukrainian refugees to find sponsors and seek safe refuge in the UK. Through this scheme, UK sponsors can register their interest and connect with Ukrainian families or individuals in need of a secure place to stay.
The council plays a vital role in this arrangement. The Ukraine Response Team undertakes relevant checks with prospective sponsors to ensure safe and suitable accommodation for refugees, explores any support that may be required, and collaborates with partner agencies to make sure both sponsors and guests can receive further assistance and guidance if needed.
