Emergency repairs
Report immediate or emergency repair 24/7 by calling 0800 358 3783
An emergency repair is where there is immediate danger to you or the structure of your building, This includes:
- burst pipes
- total loss of water supply or electricity
- intermittent or unsafe electricity supply, sparks, bare wires
- water entering your electrical system
- unusable toilet (where there is only one in the home)
We will attend within two hours and make the situation safe within 24 hours. We may need to return another day to complete the full repair.
This service operates 24 hours a day at weekends and on public holidays. The service is available to both tenants and leaseholders.
Leaks
Leaks are a serious problem which can cause damage to the structure of the building. We therefore ask that if you experience a leak please contact our repairs call centre, who will raise an order for a contractor to attend and inspect a leak in both a leaseholder and tenanted home.
Please note, if you are a leaseholder and the responsibility to repair the leak is subsequently found to be yours, we will recharge you for the work.
Our contractors
If we need to send someone to your home to carry out repairs or checks, you should expect our contractor operatives to be fully trained, polite and efficient. We continually review the quality of their work and monitor how our contractors behave in your home.
You can expect operatives employed by Westminster City Council contractors to:
- keep their appointments or change them in good time
- carry and show an identity card
- work efficiently and neatly
- treat your home with consideration
- be polite and respectful at all times
- clear up after themselves
In return, we ask you to:
- give them access to your home at the agreed appointment time – or change it as soon as possible if you find you can no longer be at home on the date/time when the appointment was set
- check the contractor’s identity card
- not leave children under 18 years old unattended in your home while operatives are present
