Anti-social behaviour strategy
We have developed a new victim-led strategy, which puts their voice, priorities and needs at the core of our approach to tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB).
The five year strategy will tackle the root causes of anti-social behaviour through investing in communities, increasing opportunities, and improving the places where people live.
It aims to make neighbourhoods safer and ensure that communities have the strength and knowledge to play a part in reducing ASB.
The strategy has five pillars:
- Prevention
- Early Intervention
- Supporting Victims
- Bring Perpetrators to Justice
- Community Engagement
Our communities have shaped the pillars, reflect their voices, and are supported by case studies to bring the strategy to life. The strategy sets out what each pillar means and what ‘good’ looks like.
We will use a Coordinated Community Response to confront ASB, which asks everyone to play their part. It requires us to not only respond appropriately within the council but also to work together with our communities and other organisations.
Anyone who lives or works in Westminster understands that the City’s vibrancy, size and dynamism inevitably leads to a certain level of noise. Westminster is undeniably busy, and people’s lives are unavoidably intertwined. But the hustle and bustle do not excuse ASB in any form.
We will continue to do everything in our power to minimise ASB and support those impacted by it.
This is just the beginning of our work. We will set up a working group with multi-agency partners to create a strategic action plan to implement the strategy. We will publish the results of this every year.
