Kate, actor, and library attendee at Mayfair Library
My library is a valuable asset in my life.
The library is a community hub. You can come if you’re feeling a bit lonely, happy, to enjoy literature, use a computer, or find a class. It’s always here.
The library initiated the local community choir. It's open to everybody and it's free. We love singing and it cheers everybody up.
In the summer of 2018, I was diagnosed with a serious illness, and I had an operation. I started watching films lying on the sofa. I thought, this isn’t me at all, so I came to the library. I’d have a treatment and before that I would take out ten books. These books got me though, and they all came from this library.
My library is a valuable asset in my life. Somewhere I can come. I know there will be people here who can help me find a book or help me with getting online. It’s an important place to have in the community. There’s so much that’s valued by money in our community at the moment, or at least in the world. A library doesn’t demand you to pay anything. That’s so precious and it’s available for all of us.
