My pension responsibilities and administration

Information about your pension scheme, benefits of joining, auto-enrolment and how to keep your details up to date.

Auto-enrolment

The government aims to ensure that every worker is enrolled in a workplace pension to ensure their financial wellbeing in retirement. As part of this a process called auto-enrolment takes place every three years to make sure everyone is enrolled into a workplace pension scheme.

Eligible employees of our LGPS scheme employers, with some exceptions, get automatically enrolled into the main section of the LGPS. This process includes members that have previously opted out (you will be re-enrolled) and active members of the 50/50 scheme.

City of Westminster Pension Fund LGPS auto enrolment takes place every three years in August. The next auto-enrolment is in August 2025.

If you have previously opted out or you were in the 50/50 scheme and you get re-enrolled, you can change your membership again from September. Please ensure the relevant form is submitted to your employer payroll before the September payroll deadline. Please check with your employer payroll for the deadline dates.

We do not recommend that you opt out of having a pension. Instead, we ask that you look at joining the 50-50 scheme which has reduced a reduced membership fee allows you to retain some of the same benefits as the main scheme.
