About me

I have had an extensive career with 30 or more years working experience.

My pension knowledge

I know I have a pension. I know that I will get monthly payments in retirement but I need to know my more so I can make appropriate arrangements for retirement.

Five important facts about your pension

  1. You can run different retirement estimates in the Member Portal.
  2. Generally, you can top up your LGPS pension with extra payments either through an Additional Pension Contribution (APC) and/or an Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC).
  3. If you didn’t transfer in any previous pension within 12 months of starting with your scheme employer, you will not be able to automatically transfer in any other pensions. Any requests to transfer in will be up to the discretion of your employer.
  4. Subject to your employer’s policy, you may be able to flexibly retire from age 55, increasing to 57 in 2028. Also, when you flexibly retire, you can start a new LGPS pension.
  5. If you lose your job because of redundancy or business efficiency but have met the two-year vesting period and are age 55 or over your LGPS benefits must be paid to you immediately.
