Samaritans

Samaritans is a registered charity aimed at providing authentic listening support to anyone in emotional distress, struggling to cope or at risk of suicide.

Talking Faith in Suicide Prevention

FaithAction is a national network of faith-based and community organisations seeking to serve their communities through social action.

In collaboration with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea Council and Westminster City Council, representatives of six faith traditions, front-line workers, and people with lived experience, FaithAction developed a faith resource to support faith-informed conversations about suicide prevention and postvention.

Every Life Matters

Every Life Matters is a Cumbrian Suicide Prevention and Suicide Bereavement Support charity and a provider of a broad range of mental health, self-harm and suicide prevention training.

Zero Suicide Alliance

The Zero Suicide Alliance (ZSA) Resources website was developed to support individuals, communities and organisations to meet people's mental health needs before, during and after experiencing crisis - to ultimately help prevent suicide in the UK and beyond. 

The resources are primarily aimed at those who work in suicide prevention, health and social care professionals, and other local and national leaders, but they welcome everyone to explore them.

The National Suicide Prevention Alliance (NSPA)

The National Suicide Prevention Alliance (NSPA) is an alliance of public, private and voluntary organisations in England who care about suicide prevention and are willing to take individual and collective action to reduce suicide and self-harm and support those bereaved or affected by suicide.

Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is a national charity that stands against suicide. The CALM Guides cover many issues and give friendly, practical information to help people understand challenges and how to find support and move forward.

Papyrus

Papyrus Prevention of Young Suicide is a UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people. 

Suicide is the biggest killer of people aged 35 and under in the UK.

People with autism – suicide safety plan 

The safety plan is to help plan for times when there are strong thoughts, feelings or urges to end life.  

There is also space for the person to set out how people can best support them.

The form can be completed by the person experiencing suicidal feelings or with a trusted friend or family member, health care professional, or support worker.

The OLLIE Foundation

OLLIE is a charity dedicated to delivering suicide awareness, intervention and prevention training by empowering professionals and young adults in their communities to lead suicide prevention activities.

Zero Suicide Alliance

Free online training courses teach you the skills and confidence to have a potentially life-saving conversation with someone you're worried about.

Rethink Mental Illness 

This session is for everyone. They charge for training and take bookings from organisations rather than individuals. However, if you live, work, study or volunteer in the London Boroughs of Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Kensington and Chelsea or Westminster, you may be able to access this training for free. 

The session is four hours, plus a one-hour break. They can also deliver this training as two 2-hour sessions on different days. They can provide this training either as an online course or face-to-face. 

Delivered through a range of activities and case studies, the modules covered are: 

  • How to look after yourself 
  • The stigma associated with suicide and how we can challenge this 
  • Warning signs of suicide 
  • How to hold a safe conversation with someone who is having thoughts of suicide

Thrive LDN's trauma-informed practice training

Thrive LDN has partnered with Nicola Lester Psychological Trauma Consultancy to offer free, pre-recorded trauma-informed practice training to support individuals and organisations. 

The training takes five hours to complete. In response to feedback, they have developed a bitesize approach to help the learning process. 

In the eight-week programme, you spend 20 to 30 minutes per week engaging with the training. 

The training will be finished by week eight, and learners will be awarded the gold-level status 'Committed to Trauma Informed Practice'.
