Information for residents and businesses
Impact of the scheme
The scheme has been designed to try and minimise any impact to residents, local businesses and everyone who visits Westminster each day. Over 200 carriageway and footway locations have been identified to be repurposed as part of this scheme, including a mixture of under-used resident parking bays and pay to park bays, as well as sections of single and double yellow lines.
We understand that you may want to feedback to us on some locations once the bay network is up and running and you’ll find more information on how to do that over this 18 month trial period below.
What will happen with my feedback?
All of our bays will be first trialled under the powers of an Experimental Traffic Order (ETO) which means we want to hear from you whether the bays are suitable in practice, or otherwise.
How long is the scheme running for?
The trial scheme will be running for 18 months and modifications may be made during this period.
How were the bays selected?
Our priority when establishing this network was to make sure our pavements are no longer cluttered by dumped dockless bikes. There are many different types of kerbside uses in Westminster and a careful criteria list was developed to ensure value for money for the resources we have dedicated for this scheme.
