Tavistock Co-operative
Tavistock Co-operative manages Harford House, which is a block of 104 flats located on Tavistock Crescent, between Portobello Road and the Great Western Avenue in West London.
The Co-operative’s management committee is made up of elected members of the co-operative. If you are a resident of Harford House you are encouraged to become a member of the co-operative. All members have the opportunity to vote on important issues affecting their home.
Responsibilities
The management committee employ a manager who is responsible for:
- providing a frontline service to residents (including day to day repairs)
- resident complaints, nuisance and anti-social behaviour
- sourcing suitable contractors and monitoring their performance
- accounting
- newsletters
- security
- liaising with outside agencies and organisations
Improvements
The co-operative is able to provide a competitive service for its residents and any surplus funds are invested back into the building or grounds on improvements, as voted for by members. The co-operative has been able to fund the following improvements over the past ten years at no cost to residents:
- upgrade of CCTV System
- new door entry system
- new internal security doors
- new floor coverings for communal areas
- new signage for block
- installation of security gates for basement residents
- additional railings and lighting in vulnerable areas
- additional planting to grounds
